Each of these people came forward with ideas - not just "records" - implying that in many cases, the sound is only a part of the picture. Crouton’s goal has always been to provide a platform for ideas and present them in the most appropriate way for the idea. Subsequently, recordings have played a strong role in that, but in no way undermine the text and design that might go into each project. Live performance is another example of presenting ideas. We have hosted a number of concerts in Milwaukee and Chicago, including Phill Niblock, Daniel Menche, Z’EV, Peter Brotzmann, Olivia Block, Ken Vandermark, Konk Pack, Jason Kahn, Greg Davis, and many others.

Helsinki, Finland www	The Finnish-Russian entity called N&B Research Digest is a label/publication series started in 2000 by two musicians, Anton Nikkilä and Alexei Borisov. So far it has released nine CD’s with nine more download-only albums coming in 2008. The first download-only releases due out in March 2008 are "Live at Belly", a live album by Alexei Borisov & Anton Nikkilä, and "Soundtrack from the film Hermafrodiitit" by the obscure early 1980’s post-punk group Swissair from Helsinki, featuring Nikkilä as well.

Considered as a noise/hardcore label in the beginning of the 90's we quickly tried to get rid of that reputation by releasing free jazz, ambient, IDM, pop as well... We co-released records with Megaphone records (USA), Define Knormal Music (USA), Rastascan (USA), Father Yod/Ecstatic Peace (USA), G3G (Spain), Fourth Dimension (UK), Trost (AT), Trottel (Hun)... We try to act as a technical support (recording studio, graphics) in total respect for the aestetics of the band. We do not impose our vision to the artists we work with.
